The advantage of sewn on patch is "durable": during washing and wearing it remains in the same place. Besides, if you want to sew another patch on same place, all you need to do is simply unstitch the old item and sew it on with the new one.
The disadvantage of sew on patch is the process itself – sewing patch on clothes. You need lots of patience if you want to sew patch with your own hands. However, you can ask the professional tailor to help you sew the patch by hand or by using a sewing machine.

Types of Patch's Border

Types of Patch's Backing
Safety Pin Backing - The patch with safety pin in the back and pin on the uniforms, clothes, bags
The advantage of safety pin backing is that can used when you need it. Usually used in activities like graduation ceremony, music concert, veteran's activities and so on. It's easy to take and take of the patch.
The disadvantage of safety pin backing is has size limited for the patch, for the large patch, safety pin will be not steady while using. And may out of paint and rust with time goes.
K&F select the best perfemance anaerobic metal as the material of the safety pin, guarantee the safety pin as good as much longer.
Hot Cut Border - Hot cut border is the simplest and most commonly used border. Simplicity, but this type of border looks excellent on patches. Cut out by scissors or a laser, and we insist, the best quality patch must cutted by scissors with hands. That's how K&F keeps the quality steady over and over the years.
The advantage of hot cut border - reliability, great effect for different thickness. By using threads of the same color as in embroidered patch, you can make complicated borders. Moreover, K&F performs special heat treatment (border baking). So, the border doesn’t become fluffy or unraveled while being used.
The disadvantage of hot cut border is the borders and patch's background will inevitably with some edge left, it's impossible to cut off the edge because you can accidentally cut border threads. In this case, an overlocked border (Merrowed) looks better than hot cut border. However, for this problem, it is possible to imitate Merrowed border for patches with a complicated shape. So now, our patches with hot cut border looks as good as merrowed patches.
The advantage of laser cut border is the border can cutted neatly, and the process time is short than heat cut at meantime.
The disadvantage of laser cut border is used to middle and big size, for the smaller size and complicate edges patch, can't cut the better shape than scissors cutted by hands.
Merrowed Border/Overlocked Border - The reason why border got the name of merrowed border is Merrow made special overlockers (overstitching machines) for patches. Merrowed border is a classical border craft.
The advantage of merrowed border is beautiful, classic with comfortable look. There is no thin edge like hot cut border patch.
The disadvantage of merrowed border is it can't make with olygon shape patch. (Used with round, oval, square, rectangle, triangle, shield-shaped, etc). Also, the width of the border is limited to 2-4 mm (for instance, a cut out border can be made in sizes from 0.3 mm to 7 mm and wider). Furthermore, it is impossible to make merrowed border for patches that less than 20 mm.
Despite it has above disadvantages, but merrowed is still the top standard for patch edging.
